Ms. Kern is currently assigned as the Executive Deputy for Marine Corps Logistics Command, Albany, Georgia. Ms. Kern is responsible to the Commanding General for the executive leadership of all logistics functions executed across MARCORLOGCOM to include the Marine Depot Maintenance Command, in Albany, Georgia and the Blount Island Command in Jacksonville, Florida. She provides comprehensive logistics/supply chain and distribution management, depot level maintenance and strategic prepositioning support to all Operating Forces, other agencies and organizations and is the principal advisor to the two-star Commanding General.
Ms. Kern served as the Director of the Installations Division (previously known as the Shore Readiness Division) in OPNAV N4 from 2013 until 2022, where she was responsible for the development of strategy, policy, program proposals, and execution oversight of the Navy’s facility investment, installation operations, and shore programs; in addition, environmental programs were added to the portfolio in 2021.
From April 2006 to March 2013 Ms. Kern worked in the Manpower, Personnel, Training & Education (MPT&E) domain, first as Deputy Comptroller for the Bureau of Naval Personnel and then as Director for Resource Management in the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations (MPT&E) (N1). In this capacity, she was responsible for the programming, budgeting, execution and accounting of approximately $26 billion in annual appropriated resources.
Ms. Erin Kern has served the Department of the Navy for 25 years, beginning her career as a budget analyst with the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Navy (Financial Management and Comptroller) before being appointed to the Senior Executive Service in 2008. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Ohio Wesleyan University in December 1996 with a B.A. in Economics.
