Commanding Officer, Marine Force Storage Command
Colonel Thomas J. Stona

Colonel Thomas J. Stona assumed duties as the Commanding Officer of Marine Force Storage Command, Albany, Georgia, in June 2026. 

Colonel Stona was born and raised on Long Island, New York. He attended Norwich University in Northfield, Vermont, where he was commissioned as a second lieutenant in 2003. Later that year, he attended The Basic School and the Ground Supply Officer’s Course in Quantico, Virginia.

In 2004, he reported to 3rd Battalion, 7th Marines, to serve as the Supply Officer. During this tour, he completed two combat deployments to Al Qaim and Ar Ramadi, Iraq.

In 2007, he was assigned as the Logistics Officer on the Inspector-Instructor staff of 6th Communication Battalion in Brooklyn, New York.

In 2011, he attended the U.S. Army Combined Logistics Captains Career Course at the Army Logistics University at Fort Lee, Virginia. Later that year, he reported to the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit at Camp Pendleton, California, where he served as the Supply Officer and deployed in support of Western Pacific Deployment 12-2.

In 2014, he attended the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, concurrently earning a Master of Science in Supply Chain Management from the University of Kansas.

In 2015, he was assigned to the Prepositioning Section within the Plans, Policies, and Operations Department at Headquarters Marine Corps, where he managed the Marine Corps Prepositioning Program-Norway and the Marine Expeditionary Unit Augmentation Program-Kuwait.

In 2018, he returned to Camp Pendleton to serve as the Operations Officer and Executive Officer of 1st Supply Battalion. While assigned to Camp Pendleton, he volunteered for and assumed command of Task Force Koa Moana 20 in 2019, leading high-visibility operations in the Republic of Palau, and subsequently concluded his tour as the Plans Officer within the I Marine Expeditionary Force G-4 section.

In 2021, he transferred to U.S. Marine Corps Forces Europe and Africa, serving as the G-4 Operations and Plans Officer and providing operational-level logistics support across two combatant command areas of responsibility.

In 2023, following selection for lieutenant colonel command, he transferred to Red Bank, New Jersey, to serve as the Inspector-Instructor of Combat Logistics Battalion 25.

In 2025, he attended the U.S. Army War College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, graduating in June 2026
