Master Gunnery Sergeant Perez is a native of Houston, TX. In October 2000, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and reported to Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego for recruit training. Upon graduation, Private Perez attended Marine Combat Training (MCT) at Camp Pendleton, CA. Following MCT, he reported to Ground Supply School aboard Camp Johnson, NC, earning the Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) of 3051, Inventory Management Specialist.
In 2001, Private Perez was assigned to 3D Force Service Support Group, 3D Material Readiness Battalion, in Okinawa, Japan, where he served as an Inventory Management Specialist for the Training Allowance Pool platoon with Supply Company. In April 2002 he was promoted to Private First Class and received orders to Marine Corps Systems Command, Marine Corps Tactical Systems Support Activity (MCTSSA) aboard Camp Pendleton, CA, where he served as the Assistant Warehouse Chief. He was promoted to Corporal in January 2004.
In May 2005, Corporal Perez reported for duty to Marine Security Guard (MSG) school aboard Quantico, VA. Upon successful completion of MSG school, he received his first post assignment to American Embassy Manama, Bahrain and was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in August 2005. In July 2006 Sergeant Perez was assigned to his second post where he served as the Assistant Detachment Commander for MSG Detachment Pretoria, South Africa. In June 2007 Sergeant Perez was assigned to his final post where he served as both the acting Detachment Commander and Assistant Detachment Commander for MSG Detachment Port-Au-Prince, Haiti. In July 2008, after completing a successful tour of MSG duty, Sergeant Perez reported for duty to Combat Logistics Regiment 25, 2D Supply Battalion, Supply Company, Camp Lejeune, NC. Sergeant Perez served as the Assistant Warehouse Chief in the shipping and receiving section of Storage Platoon at the Supply Management Unit (SMU). During his time with the SMU, Sergeant Perez was deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
In October 2010 he was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant and received orders to the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), Command Element, Camp Lejeune, NC. He served as the Warehouse Chief where he deployed aboard the USS Iwo Jima as a key member for the Expeditionary Crisis Response Force. While operating independently with host-nation personnel and numerous supporting agencies, Staff Sergeant Perez served as the MEU Expediter aboard Ali Al Salem AFB, Kuwait and aboard NSA Souda Bay, Greece. Staff Sergeant Perez was instrumental in training the Jordanians with the Marine Engagement Team-77 (MET-77) aboard a remote camp in Aqaba, Jordan. In August 2013 Staff Sergeant Perez received orders and reported for duty at 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine Air Support Squadron 2, in Okinawa, Japan where he served as the Warehouse Chief.
In July 2015, Staff Sergeant Perez received orders to Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego for Drill Instructor School class 4-15. Upon graduation of Drill Instructor School, he was assigned to 3D Recruit Training Battalion, India Company. He was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant in November 2015 where he served as a Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor, and Third Battalion RoutingChief. In October of 2018, upon completion of a successful tour of Drill Instructor duty, Gunnery Sergeant Perez reported to 2D Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine Wing Support Group 27, Marine Wing Support Squadron 274. Gunnery Sergeant Perez served as the Company First Sergeant for Headquarters and Service Company and the Warehouse Chief for the squadron. Gunnery Sergeant Perez was promoted to the rank of Master Sergeant in July 2020 and reported for duty to 2D Marine Logistics Group, 2D Supply Battalion, Camp Lejeune, NC, where he served as the Storage Operations Staff Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge (SNCOIC) with Storage Platoon at the SMU.
In June 2022, Master Sergeant Perez received orders to 3D Marine Logistics Group, 3D Supply Battalion where he served as the Storage Operations SNCOIC for Storage Platoon at the SMU in Okinawa, Japan. In October 2023 Master Sergeant Perez was selected to the rank of Master Gunnery Sergeant and received orders to Marine Force Storage Command, Marine Corps Logistics Base, Albany, Georgia. In July 2024 he was promoted to the rank of Master Gunnery Sergeant where he currently serves as the Senior Enlisted Advisor for Force Storage Command.
Master Gunnery Sergeant Perez's personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (gold star in lieu of second award), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (gold star in lieu of second award), and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (gold star in lieu of fourth award).
