Senior Enlisted Leader, Marine Force Storage Command
First Sergeant Allen A. Janis

First Sergeant Janis assumed duties as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader, Marine Force Storage Command, on November  12, 2025.

He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in September 2005 and completed recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina. Following graduation from the School of Infantry, he reported to 2d Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. During this assignment, he deployed twice in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and twice in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He was promoted to sergeant during his final deployment with 2d LAR.

In April 2012, he reported to Marine Combat Instructor School and, upon graduation in June 2012, was assigned to Advanced Infantry Training Battalion, where he served as a combat instructor for the Advanced Mortarman Course until April 2015.

In May 2015, Sergeant Janis reported to 1st Battalion, 2d Marines, where he served as section leader in 81mm Mortar Platoon, Weapons Company. In August 2015, he deployed to Okinawa, Japan, in support of Unit Deployment Program 15-2. While deployed, he led a 60mm mortar section to victory in 3d Marine Division’s Crew Served Weapons Super Squad Competition, participated in Operation Blue Chromite, and deployed to Korea in support of KMEP 15.2. He was promoted to staff sergeant during this tour.

In February 2016, he redeployed to Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, where he was reassigned to 2d Platoon, Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 2d Marines, serving as platoon sergeant. He deployed with Charlie Company in April 2017 as the security force for Task Force Southwest Rotation One, returning in November 2017.

In January 2018, Staff Sergeant Janis reported to the Jungle Warfare Training Center, Okinawa, Japan, where he served as chief instructor for the Jungle Skills Courses, 3d Marine Division. In August 2019, he was reassigned to III MEF Training and Exercises as assistant training chief. He was promoted to gunnery sergeant during this tour. From April to July 2020, he served as watch chief at the Joint COVID Response Center, Okinawa. He earned an associate’s degree in general studies in January 2021.

In April 2021, he attended Marine Combat Instructor School East and, upon graduation in June 2021, reported to Marine Combat Training Battalion, where he served as company gunnery sergeant, Hotel Company, until September 2022. He was then reassigned to Headquarters and Service Company, where he served as battalion chief instructor.

On September 1, 2023, he was promoted to first sergeant and transferred to Headquarters and Service Company, Marine Combat Training Battalion, where he served as company first sergeant.

First Sergeant Janis assumed duties as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader, 2d Force Storage Battalion, Marine Force Storage Command, on November 8, 2023.

First Sergeant Janis’ personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two gold stars, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with gold star, and the Combat Action Ribbon with gold star.
