Lieutenant Colonel DiStefano was born in December 1981 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Souderton Area High School in 2000 and went on to attend Shippensburg University in Pennsylvania, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Education with a concentration in American History in 2005. Following his graduation, he began his career in education, teaching Alternative Education in Highspire, Pennsylvania.
In 2008, Lieutenant Colonel DiStefano was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant through Officer Candidate School. After completing The Basic School in 2009, he was assigned to the 3rd Intelligence Battalion in Okinawa, Japan. There, he completed On-the-Job Training while awaiting a slot at Ground Supply School. Upon graduating from Ground Supply School later that year, he was assigned as the Battalion Supply Officer, supporting several deployments in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom, Enduring Freedom-Philippines, and Tomodachi. He also participated in Exercises Winter Surge 2009 and 2010 in Korea. Additionally, during this assignment, he represented the Marine Corps on the All-Marine Rugby Team at Fort Benning, Georgia.
In 2011, First Lieutenant DiStefano was reassigned to Combat Logistics Battalion-4, where he once again served as the Battalion Supply Officer. During this tour, he deployed to Camp Leatherneck in Afghanistan's Helmand Province in support of Operation Enduring Freedom 12.1.
In 2012, Captain DiStefano reported to the 4th Marine Corps Recruiting District in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania, where he served as the District Supply Officer. During this period, he also completed the Expeditionary Warfare School (Non-Resident). In 2015, he attended the Expeditionary Warfare School (Resident) in Quantico, Virginia.
In 2016, Captain DiStefano joined the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, as the MAGTF Supply Officer. During his time with the 26th MEU, he deployed aboard the USS Iwo Jima to the 5th and 6th Fleet areas of operation, supporting various exercises in Europe and the Middle East, as well as real-world operations in Iraq, Syria, and Africa.
In September 2018, Major DiStefano returned to Ground Supply School as the Operations Officer, later assuming the role of Executive Officer. In this capacity, he taught several classes to supply officers-in-training, led the Training and Readiness review for the 3002 occupational specialty, and developed a mentorship program to enhance leadership "soft skills" for Marine Corps supply officers. During the evenings, he completed the Marine Corps' Command and Staff College (Non-Resident).
In January 2021, Major DiStefano reported to the Australian War College in Canberra, Australia, where he attended the Australian Command and Staff College. While in Canberra, he completed his intermediate-level schooling and earned a master's degree.
In January 2022, Major DiStefano was assigned to Combat Logistics Battalion-3 on Oahu, Hawaii, where he served as the Company Commander of General Support Company. In the summer of 2022, Combat Logistics Battalion-3 was re-designated as the 3rd Littoral Logistics Battalion and moved from the 3rd Marine Logistics Group to the 3rd Marine Division. In this role, he led over 100 Marines and Sailors in support of or participation in 11 major exercises across the Indo-Pacific region.
In July 2024, Lieutenant Colonel DiStefano reported to the G4 of Marine Forces Pacific Command, where he served as the lead planner for operational logistics in Southeast Asia. In this capacity, he advanced the Marine Corps' prepositioning program objectives in the Philippines, enhanced access to emerging technologies in the Stern Landing Vessel, and strengthened communication and collaboration with the Singapore Armed Forces.
Lieutenant Colonel DiStefano holds a Master of Arts in Military and Defense Studies from the Australian National University and a Bachelor of Science in Education from Shippensburg University. His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two Gold Stars, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
