Deputy Commander, 1st Force Storage Battalion
James M. Maxwell

James Maxwell is originally from the Chicago area and enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1996 at the age of 17. After obtaining the Military Occupational Specialty of 3043 (Supply Admin and Operations Specialist), he was first stationed in Okinawa, Japan. Over the course of his 21-year career, he served with all major elements of the Marine Air-Ground Task Force as well as Training and Education Command, Marine Forces Reserve, Marine Security Guard duty and supporting establishments. Tours of duty included 3rd Supply Battalion, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, 3rd Materiel Readiness Battalion, School of Infantry-West, 6th Engineer Support Battalion, Marine Security Guard Detachment Commander at United States Embassies in Stockholm, Sweden & Kigali, Rwanda, Marine Aircraft Group 16, 11th Marine Regiment, Regimental Combat Team-5, 1st Marine Division, and the Field Supply Maintenance Analysis Office-West. Upon his retirement in 2017, he joined the Internal Controls and Audit Readiness Team for Headquarters, U.S. Marine Corps in support of improving the Corps’ audit posture. In March of 2021, he began his current position, Deputy Commander, 1st Force Storage Battalion in Barstow, CA. Mr. Maxwell holds a Master of Science from National University.
