Commander, Marine Depot Maintenance command
Col. Nicholas J. Lozar

Colonel Nicholas Lozar assumed duties as commanding officer, Marine Depot Maintenance Command, in July 2025.

He was commissioned a second lieutenant in May 2001 through Naval ROTC. Upon completion of The Basic School and the Logistics Officers Course, he was assigned to 1st Transportation Support Battalion, where he served as motor transport platoon commander, support company, and landing support platoon commander, landing support company.

In February 2003, he reported to Combat Service Support Battalion 10 as motor transport officer during the invasion of Iraq. He was promoted to first lieutenant in May 2003 and assigned as motor transport detachment commander, Combat Service Support Company 101, during Phase IV stability operations in Iraq.

Upon return from Iraq, he was assigned as officer in charge, Beach Operations Control Group, Kuwait Naval Base, where he supported the redeployment of U.S. forces to Iraq. In March 2004, he reported to 1st Landing Support Company, where he served as air delivery platoon commander.

In November 2005, he reported to Marine Tactical Air Command Squadron 18, Okinawa, Japan, where he served as  S-4 officer. He was promoted to captain in December 2005.

From 2008 to 2011, he attended Expeditionary Warfare School, served as an academics instructor at Officer Candidate School, worked as a capabilities integration officer at the Logistics Integration Division under the Deputy Commandant for Combat Development and Integration, and served as aide-de-camp to the Deputy Commanding General, Marine Corps Combat Development Command.

In July 2011, he reported to 1st Marine Division, where he served as logistics plans officer, G-4, during Operation Enduring Freedom 12.1. He was promoted to major in April 2012. Upon his return from Afghanistan, he was assigned as S-4 officer, Headquarters Battalion, 1st Marine Division.

In July 2014, he attended the Army Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. Following graduation, he was assigned to Headquarters Marine Corps, Department of Aviation, where he served as aviation logistics strategy and plans officer and innovation lead.

In July 2018, he reported to Combat Logistics Regiment 1, where he served as executive officer. He was promoted to lieutenant colonel in August 2018.

From December 2019 to June 2021, he commanded Marine Wing Support Squadron 371. Following command, he attended The Eisenhower School, National Defense University, and was subsequently assigned to the Joint Staff, J-33. He was promoted to colonel in September 2023.

Most recently, he served as assistant chief of staff, G-3, 1st Marine Logistics Group, I Marine Expeditionary Force.

Colonel Lozar holds a Bachelor of Arts in chemistry from Virginia Tech, a Master of Arts in leadership from the University of Oklahoma, a Master of Military Art and Science from the Army Command and General Staff College, and a Master of National Resource Strategy from The Eisenhower School, National Defense University.
