Senior Enlisted Advisor, Marine Depot Maintenance Command
Master Sergeant Harold E. Shade

Master Sergeant Harold E. Shade assumed duties as the Command Senior Enlisted Advisor of Marine Depot Maintenance Command, Albany, Georgia, in July 2025.

A native of Orlando, Florida, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in September 2003 and completed recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina. He attended the School of Infantry at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, and completed Logistics Operations School in February 2004, earning the MOS 3521, Motor Transport Mechanic.

 

He reported to Headquarters Company, 8th Marines, 2d Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina in August 2004, serving as a motor transport mechanic and noncommissioned officer deploying to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was promoted to sergeant in 2004.

                In July 2008, he reported to Drill Instructor School, Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina, and served as a Drill Instructor and Senior Drill Instructor. During this tour, he earned the 0911 Drill Instructor MOS, was certified as a Martial Arts Instructor (0916), and held the highest regimental drill record for the duration of his tour.

In July 2012, he reported to 2d Battalion, 11th Marines, 1st Marine Division, Camp Pendleton, California, and later that year was assigned to 9th Communication Battalion, where he served as a Staff Sergeant Motor Transport Chief.  During this tour he deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

In May 2015, he reported to 4th Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company, Force Headquarters Group, Marine Forces Reserve, West Palm Beach, Florida, serving on the Inspector-Instructor Staff.  He was promoted to gunnery sergeant in Sep 2015.

In May 2018, he reported to the Command Element, III Marine Expeditionary Force, Okinawa, Japan, serving as the Assistance Maintenance Chief, III MEF G-4.

In July 2020, he reported to Headquarters and Service Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, California, as Inspector General Chief and was promoted to Master Sergeant.  In March 2023, he received orders to Headquarters Company, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, Camp Pendleton, California and served as the Motor Transport Chief.

Master Sergeant Shade is a graduate of Corporal’s Course, Sergeants School, Staff Non-commissioned Officer Career and Advance Courses, as well as a multitude of MOS and Non-MOS specific certifications.  He is also a graduate of the United States Naval War College Primary Enlisted PME Course.

His personal awards include three Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, four Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal with six bronze stars in lieu of seventh award, one Meritorious Mast, one Certificate of Commendation, one Certificate of Appreciation, and one Letter of Appreciation.
