The following is the information passed at the
Furlough Town Hall for LOGCOM and Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany
A combined LOGCOM / Base Town Hall was conducted on 3 November 2025 at the Base Chapel in an effort to share relevant information and address questions from the workforce regarding the ongoing government shutdown. The following captures the topics discussed. Please continue to seek out information on your own as this is not an all-inclusive list.
1. Pay:
- Pay period ending 4 Oct 2025 you received compensation for seven of the ten days in the pay period.
- Overtime, premium pay, etc. may have zeroed out to regular pay due to the “KE” coding for 1-3 Oct. Payroll is tracking these issues.
- Pay period ending 18 Oct 2025 and 1 Nov 2025 you received no compensation.
- Check your Leave and Earnings Statements when the furlough ends to ensure all of your information (i.e., pay, leave, etc.) is correct.
2. Retroactive Pay:
- Taxes will be taken out of each paycheck and not in one lump sum to avoid a higher tax bracket.
3. Benefits:
- Insurance premiums continue to be paid and will be taken out of your paycheck when you start getting paid again.
- Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) contributions will be retroactive; however, you may lose whatever interest you would have accrued had you continued to contribute.
- Health benefits open season is 10 Nov – 8 Dec 2025.
- If you cannot access the GRB Platform, call the Benefits Line 888-320-2917. Their hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 am – 7:30 pm ET.
4. Base Access:
- During furlough, you still have access to the Base, including the Exchange, Commissary, Hobby Shop, CEAP Counselors, Chaplain, etc.
5. Monetary Resources / Assistance:
- Banking institutions (Navy Federal Credit Union, USAA, etc.)
- GA Department of Labor (unemployment benefits)
- TSP loan
- Shutdown Grant App – Federal Employee Education and Assistance Fund (feea.org)
- Utilities (Mitchell EMC, perhaps others)
- Navy Marine Corps Relief Society – available to civilians, as well as active duty
6. Non-monetary Resources / Assistance:
- Civilian Employee Assistance Program (CEAP) – call 844-366-2327
- Counseling (6 sessions)
- Managing money
- Other opportunities (call for more information)
- Base Chaplain – Bldg 3500, Wing 300 (LCDR Derek B.Goldstein)
- MCCS programs (counseling, other free programs)
- Commissary
- Local food banks
- United Way – unitedway.org
- Salvation Army – sahelp.org
- Food stamps (Georgia Gateway) – gateway.ga.gov
7. Leave:
- LWOP – impacts to WIGI’s and leave accrual will be corrected retroactively
- Check your paperwork (i.e., SF-50’s, LES’s, etc.) to ensure they are correct.
- Restored leave process for Use or Lose (CHRO-SE)
- Leave must be requested NLT 29 November. Requests can be completed in DAI/OTL, email, text message, or via the OPM-71 Leave Request Form.
8. Recall from Furlough:
- Must be a task that cannot be executed by a Marine
- SECNAV approval required (currently taking up to 10 working days)
9. Mid-Year Progress Reviews:
- Progress review deadline has been extended
- New due date will be published upon return of the workforce / when the government re-opens
11. CAC Soon to Expire:
- CAC expiring within the next 30 days – you can make an appointment with the Visitor’s Control Center to get a new CAC prior to the expiration date.
