MCLB Albany, Ga. -- Headquarters Battalion, Marine Corps Logistics Command, marked a leadership transition as Lt. Col. Jason A. Paredes relinquished command to Lt. Col. Andrew J. Martin during a change of command ceremony June 23.
Headquarters Battalion provides leadership, accountability, administrative support, training readiness oversight and professional development for Marines assigned across Marine Corps Logistics Command. The battalion also supports the morale and welfare of Marines and their families while enabling LOGCOM’s global mission of supporting Marines worldwide.
Maj. Gen. Keith D. Reventlow, commanding general of Marine Corps Logistics Command, recognized Paredes for his leadership during the past two years and his role in strengthening the battalion.
“You leave the command stronger and better because of your leadership,” Reventlow said. “Thank you. We’re going to miss you as you embark on the next chapter.”
Following the change of command, Paredes celebrated his retirement after 22 years of service during a separate ceremony with family, friends, Marines and colleagues.
Paredes thanked the Marines, civilians and families who supported him throughout his final command tour.
“When I took command, I told you I wanted to be here, I asked for these orders, and it was one of the best decisions I ever made,” Paredes said. “This tour has been the hallmark of my career, and I wish you all continued success.”
Martin thanked Paredes and the battalion for ensuring a smooth transition and emphasized the importance of supporting LOGCOM’s mission.
“I see this assignment as an endless opportunity to give back to an organization that has provided so much support to me and my Marines since I have been in uniform,” Martin said. “Anything I can do to support the LOGCOM mission, the Marines, the families and the civilians, I see that as a win.”
Martin closed his remarks by expressing his appreciation for the opportunity to lead Headquarters Battalion.
“It is an honor and a privilege to take command of Headquarters Battalion,” Martin said. “I’m very happy to be here.”
