Marine Corps Logistics Command held a relief and appointment ceremony to mark the transition of its senior enlisted leadership. Sgt. Maj. Brian R. Drechsler relinquished his post, and Sgt. Maj. Marshall H. Gregg assumed his duties as the command’s senior enlisted leader.

The event included the ceremonial passing of the sword, symbolizing the transfer of responsibility, authority, and accountability from one senior enlisted leader to another. The ceremony featured remarks from the command’s senior leadership, the reading of official orders, and recognition of the families and community partners who support the command.

Maj. Gen. Keith D. Reventlow, commanding general, Marine Corps Logistics Command, commended Sgt. Maj. Drechsler for his steadfast leadership, commitment to high standards, and dedication to Marine Corps values. Drechsler was recognized for his active engagement with Marines, civilian employees, and contractors and his role in advancing positive change and modernization throughout LOGCOM.

“Sgt. Maj. Drechsler, you asked me the hard questions, challenging me, being involved in everything the command was doing,” Reventlow said. “You have done it, and that makes such a difference. You can sit in your office and hide and think, ‘Well, I just do Marine things.’ That’s not how you approached this at all. You connected with our Marines and our civilians.”

In his remarks, Drechsler reflected on his career, the importance of mentorship, and the power of teamwork. He expressed gratitude to the Marines, leadership, and his family, emphasizing the collective effort required to succeed and the significance of every contribution.

“I appreciate all of your wise counsel, leadership, and mentorship,” Drechsler said. “I’m definitely a better sergeant major now than I ever was before.”

During his tenure, Sgt. Maj. Drechsler made a lasting impact on Marine Corps Logistics Command through several key initiatives. He spearheaded the State Marine Initiative, expanding awareness of available resources and helping the command exceed its retention goals. He played a critical role in planning and executing more than 30 distinguished visitor events, advancing LOGCOM’s global mission while deepening ties with the city of Albany. Additionally, he served as a senior ambassador to the local community, helping bridge civilian-military relations and contributing to the hiring of more than 120 new employees.

Sgt. Maj. Gregg returns to LOGCOM for a second tour, bringing a wealth of experience and a passion for leading Marines and civilians. In his remarks, he emphasized the importance of solving logistics challenges and supporting the entire team.

“I appreciate the opportunity to serve as your command senior enlisted leader,” Gregg said. “You have my word that I will work hard to bring about your guidance and intent, and I will be a relentless advocate for our Marines, Sailors, and civilians.”

“I’m honored to serve alongside the men and women of LOGCOM,” he continued. “My commitment is to be a relentless advocate for every Marine, Sailor, and civilian who works to keep this command moving forward.”

Both the Drechsler and Gregg families were recognized during the ceremony for their unwavering support. Their presence underscored the critical role families play in the success of military service members.

The ceremony also highlighted the importance of continued partnerships with local community leaders, educational institutions, and military families, which are vital to mission success and the well-being of the LOGCOM workforce.
