Marine Depot Maintenance Command (MDMC) held a change of command ceremony during which outgoing coomander Col. Wilfred Rivera relinqueshed command of MDMC to incomming commander Col. Kirk M. Spangenberg. The ceremony was held at MDMC’s Production Plant Albany on Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany (MCLB-A), Ga., June 15.

MDMC is headquartered at MCLB-A and consists of two production plants, one at MCLB-A and the other at Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow, Calif. MDMC provides the Marine Corps with worldwide organic depot-level maintenance support for the rebuild, repair, engineering solutions, manufacturing and technical services to maximize the readiness and sustainability of combat support systems.

Col Rivera will move to Marine Corps Installations Command where he will serve as the Chief of Staff. During the ceremony, Rivera thanked the Marines and civilian-Marines of MDMC saying, "The most important persons here today are the people in the bleachers, the civilian-Marines that are the workforce of the command, thank you for what you have done and continue to do for the Corps."

Col Spangenberg comes from MARCORLOGCOM's Weapon Systems Msangement Center where he served as the center director for two years. Spangenberg said that MDMC has a bright future ahead of it.  "MDMC will continue to fix, repair and rebuild the Corps' ground equipment, but as we move into the future we will increase our focus on innovation and modernization initiatives that will enable the command to complete technologically advanced workload," said Spangenberg.

Welcome aboard Col Spangenberg, and fair winds and following seas Col Rivera.
