Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany, Ga. -- Happy Birthday!
Marines and Civilian-Marines of Marine Depot Maintenance Command gathered to acknowledge the 10 year anniversary since the Maintenance Centers at Albany, Ga. and Barstow, Calif. combined under a single headquarters command. The creation of MDMC gives a single headquarters command and control over two production plants and enables the Marine Corps to reduce overhead, streamline and standardize business processes and decrease operating costs.
During the celebration, coins minted to commemorate the command in 2007 were handed out to employees that were with MDMC from 2006-2007 as a thank you for their work that contributed to the depot receiving the 2007 ROBERT T. MASON DEPOT MAINTENANCE EXCELLENCE AWARD.
MDMC commander, Col Wilfred Rivera thanked the workforce for their hard work and dedication to mission. “I couldn't be any more proud for the work that you have done, and the work that you continue to do every day. Everything that we do does effect the Marines in the fleet, and the relevance of that cannot be misunderstood.”
"The leadership that you provide at every echelon is well appreciated and is making a difference...every month I brief the CG on production and if you were not turning wrenches the way you are I would be getting beat up, by what you are doing you are making me look good day in and day out, but most importantly what you do is effecting those marines in the Fleet Marine Force, “ added Rivera.
