Blount Island Command Welcomes New Commanding Officer During Ceremony

Marines, Sailors, Civilian-Marines and contractors, family and friends of Blount Island Command gathered to bid a fond farewell to outgoing commanding officer, Col. Andrew J. Bergen, and provide a warm welcome to incoming commanding officer, Col. Michael J. Livingston during a recent change of command ceremony held at Marine Corps Support Facility Blount Island, Florida.
 
A change of command is a military tradition that represents a formal transfer of authority, and ensures that the unit is never without official leadership.
 
Bergen is headed to Camp Pendelton to serve as chief of staff for 1st Marine Logistics Group.
 
Livingston previously served as assistant chief of staff G-4 logistics, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, Okinawa, Japan.
 
Maj. Gen. Joseph F. Shrader, the comanding general of Marine Corps Logistics Command, presided over the ceremony. 
 
As the hub of the Marine Corps’ prepositioning programs, Marine Corps Support Facility Blount Island serves as the home of Blount Island Command and its worldwide mission supporting Marine expeditionary forces.
