Marine Corps Logistics Command was awarded the Meritorious Unit Commendation with bronze star in lieu of fourth award during a ceremony held at Covella Pond aboard Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany, March 21.

Brig. Gen. Joseph F. Shrader, commanding general, MARCORLOGOM, attached the MUC streamer with three bronze stars to the organizational colors for meritorious achievement from May 1, 2015 to May 1, 2018.

“This is a significant accomplishment, Shrader said. “Please take great pride in that and understand what this means about the organization. This could not have happened if it were not for all the hard work and dedication from all the Marines and civilian-Marines in Marine Corps Logistics Command.”

Staff Sgt. Darius L. Warren, supply systems analyst, Retail Systems Branch, G-6, MARCORLOGCOM, has been with the command for four years.

“Marine Corps Logistics Command is known as the hub for supply and logistics,” Warren said. “In my mind, the award ties back to one team, one fight no matter the mission, it all contributed to the unit receiving this award.

“I am glad to have been part of the unit as long as I have been and see the efforts of the Marines and civilian-Marines recognized,” he said.

According to the MUC citation, MARCORLOGCOM personnel defined responsive operational logistics support to the force.

The citation reads in part: “Recognizing significant changes in operational needs and an institutional pivot toward increased transparency and accountability, MARCORLOGCOM fundamentally altered its organization, processes and systems, producing noteworthy outcomes while establishing a foundation for the future. As executive agent for reset of ground equipment, the command repaired more than 52,000 pieces of military equipment and disposed of more than 20,000 pieces. They also executed depot level repair of over 68,000 items”

The citation also stated the command enhanced strategic prepositioned capabilities, supporting more than 50 exercises and Theater Security Cooperation events for the Combatant Command engagement with U.S. allies around the globe.

The award continued: “Throughout the three-year period, MARCORLOGCOM personnel provided on site services to Marine Forces, including corrosion control for more than 1,000 items, administrative storage of 2,100 items, fielding and configuration support for 3.2 million items valued at $2.3 billion, the expeditious removal of more than 90,000 pieces of excess property, and the annual receipt and issue of 375,000 items of combat equipment.”

MARCORLOGCOM personnel coordinated with forward deployed units resulting in the expedited delivery of more than 25,000 high priority requisitions.

“They increased force readiness through repair of 26,000 secondary repairables and produced over $20 million in cost avoidance by redistribution of chemical protection equipment to the other services,” the MUC citation concluded.
