Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow, Calif. -- Marine Depot Maintenance Command, along with Marine Corps Systems Command, hosted a delegation from the Government of Japan (GOJ) to MDMC's Production Plant Barstow (PP-B) to conduct a Program Management Review of foreign military sales cases to the GOJ, at Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow, Calif., Nov. 14. During the visit to PP-B, the delegation met with MDMC leadership and toured Amphibious Assault Vehicle production processes. The visit strengthens the U.S.-Japan Alliance that is a cornerstone of our Indo-Pacific Security Strategy.
The delegation included members of the Government of Japan, Japanese Ground Self-Defense Force, and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. Over the course of several days, representatives from MCSC, MDMC, and the delegation conducted the USG/GOJ Program Management Review of multiple Foreign Military Sales (FMS) cases. These cases primarily support the GOJ Assault Amphibious Vehicle (AAV) Program but also include exercise and training support. MDMC personnel supporting the AAV program were invited to participate in the AAV case reviews and discussions, as LOGCOM and MDMC are vital components sustaining our partnership with Japan and AAV interoperability with our warfighters.
