Commanding General, Marine Corps Logistics Command
Major General Joseph F. Shrader

Major General Shrader is a native of Princeton, West Virginia. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in January 1981 and served for three years as an infantryman (0311). After his enlistment, he returned to West Virginia where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering Technology from Bluefield State College.

Major General Shrader was commissioned through the Platoon Leaders Course in 1989 and has served as an Artillery Officer and a Marine Acquisitions Professional. He has commanded at the platoon, battery, and battalion (ANGLICO) levels. He has also served as Chief of Staff for the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Expeditionary Programs and Logistics, a Defense Systems Acquisitions Program Manager, and a Product Group Director with Marine Corps Systems Command.

As a General Officer, he has served as Commander, Marine Corps Systems Command, and he is currently the Commanding General, Marine Corps Logistics Command.

Major General Shrader’s operational deployments include Operations Desert Shield, Desert Storm and Provide Comfort; Operation Unified Assistance in support of the 2004 Tsunami in Indonesia; and Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Major General Shrader is a graduate of the Marine Corps Command and Staff College; The Industrial College of the Armed Forces; and CAPSTONE. He holds a Masters Military Studies and Masters of National Resourcing Strategy. He is also Level III certified in Defense Systems Acquisitions Program Management.
