Distribution Management Center (DMC)

Mission:

The Distribution Management Center has exclusive responsibility for Marine Corps enterprise-level distribution management and for planning and management of storage operations for ground weapon system Principal End Items (PEIs) and associated collateral materiel.  The DMC will effect the most reliable distribution of all classes of supply to sustain readiness of forward deployed forces, while maintaining CONUS-based operations.

Overview:

The Distribution Management Center (DMC) serves as the focal point for the Marine Corps Logistics Command's mission as Distribution Process Owner (DPO) for the Marine Corps and global wholesale storage operations for ground weapon system principal end items (PEIs) and associated material in support of Marine Corps Operating Forces (OPFORs).   DMC provides capabilities to the OPFORs under those two major roles as follows:

Distribution - linking strategic resources to tactical requirements to provide effective and efficient operational distribution support to deliver right things to the right place at the right time

  -- Planning for sustainment distribution support
  -- Tracking, tracing, and expediting of equipment and material to meet time definite delivery standards
  -- Capacity and performance management analysis and reporting
  -- Distribution Process Advocate capability at Distribution Nodes and OPFORs
  -- Air Clearance Authority

  -- Packaging, Handling, Storage and Transportation technical guidance

Storage Operations - storage activities for global PEI wholesale inventory

   -- Receipt, store, maintain, and issue of wholesale PEIs and associated material to Sources of Repair and OPFORS
   -- Technical guidance on storage operations
   -- Project Management .Provide receipt, storage, preservation, kitting (when required) and issue of material in support of various projects
   -- Technical Publication stock, store, and issue
   -- Management Control Activity for Marine Corps GFE and GFM
   -- Retrograde class II/IX/rapid procurement item processing
   -- Foreign Military Sales support

Enterprise Distribution

Service - Acts as Distribution Process Owner for USMC to:

  • Support the development/implementation of policies/procedures to facilitate execution.
  • Plan, integrate, organize, and manage the Marine Corps (MC) logistics chain.
  • Provide wholesale distribution planning and support to the operating forces/HQMC.
  • Act as MC operational-level distribution manager w/emphasis on inter-theater.
  • Serve as service-level Air Clearance Authority with the respective Marine Forces.
  • Support the accountability and management of retrograde from theater of operations.
  • Maintain enterprise-level visibility and the ability to track, trace, and expedite.
  • Operational Enterprise Container Manager

Reimbursable Storage Projects

Perform supply support actions to receipt, store, Care-of-Supplies-in-Storage (COSIS), inventory accountability, kit, prepare for shipment, and issue of Principle End Items (PEIs) and associated collateral material/SL-3, to meet Foreign Military Sales (FMS) programs and other services equipment/supply support requirements. 

Perform less than depot level maintenance actions to select PEIs for the purpose of upgrading unserviceable equipment to customer defined serviceability. 

Plan, source, store, kit, and associate CM/SL-3 material to support PEIs processed for FMS programs.
