Executive Officer
Maj. Matthew A. Wagner

Major Wagner was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas, in July 1984.  He enlisted in the Marine Corps in December 2003 and attended Recruit Training at 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, California, where he graduated as a Private First Class (Meritorious).  He was subsequently promoted to Lance Corporal (Meritorious) upon completion of Marine Combat Training and he reported to MOS schools in Pensacola, Florida and Norfolk, Virginia; where he attained the military occupational specialty 6317, F/A-18 Communications, Navigations, Radar Systems Technician. 

In December 2005, Lance Corporal Wagner reported for duty with VMFA (AW)-224 in Beaufort, South Carolina. Lance Corporal Wagner then deployed with his unit to Marine Base Al Assad, Iraq, from January 2005 to August 2005.  Lance Corporal Wagner was promoted to Corporal (Combat Meritorious) in July 2005. After the return from deployment, Corporal Wagner was promoted to Sergeant (Meritorious) in May 2006.  At that time, Sergeant Wagner applied for and was accepted into the Marine Corps Broadened Opportunity for Officer Selection and Training (BOOST) program.

In August 2007, Sergeant Wagner reported for duty as a BOOST student at Naval Station Newport, Rhode Island.  Upon completion in May 2008, Sergeant Wagner reported for duty as a MECEP student at the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps (NROTC) – at the University of Oklahoma (OU).  Sergeant Wagner attended and completed the Officer Candidate School’s 6-week “Bulldog” program in the summer of 2009.  Sergeant Wagner was then promoted to Staff Sergeant in March 2010 while meeting MECEP and NROTC requirements.  Staff Sergeant Wagner graduated college from OU in May 2011 and earned a commission as a Second Lieutenant.

In July 2011, Second Lieutenant Wagner reported to The Basic School and, upon graduation, reported to Naval Flight School, NAS Pensacola, Florida.  In May 2013, Second Lieutenant Wagner was promoted to First Lieutenant. 

In December 2014, First Lieutenant Wagner was re-designated and reported to Personnel Administration School, Camp Johnson, Jacksonville, North Carolina, to attend the Adjutant’s Course.  Upon graduation, First Lieutenant Wagner reported for duty at Marine Wing Support Squadron – 272 at Marine Corps Air Station New River, Jacksonville, North Carolina, where he held the billet as the Squadron’s Adjutant.

First Lieutenant Wagner deployed with his unit to Special Purpose MAGTF- Crisis Response Europe and Africa, aboard Naval Air Station Sigonella, Italy, from January 2015 to July 2015.  Upon return from deployment, First Lieutenant Wagner was promoted to Captain in August 2015.

In January 2016, Captain Wagner volunteered for recruiting duty and was accepted and subsequently given orders to serve at Recruiting Station Oklahoma City.  He served as the Station’s Executive Officer for three years.  Upon completion of Recruiting Duty, Captain Wagner attended the Expeditionary Warfare School’s resident course aboard Quantico, Virginia from July 2019 to May 2020.

In June 2020 Captain Wagner reported for duties as the Adjutant for Marine Corps Logistics Command and was subsequently promoted to Major in February 2021. In May 2022, Major Wagner assumed the duties as the Executive Officer, Marine Corps Logistics Command Headquarters Group.

Major Wagner’s personal awards include the Good Conduct Medal with bronze star in lieu of second award, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with gold star in lieu of second award, and the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with gold star in lieu of second award.  He has a Bachelor of Science in Multi-disciplinary studies, with focus on Health and Society from the University of Oklahoma.
